We are seeking to appoint a committed and reflective teacher to join our vibrant and enthusiastic team. 

Purpose of job:

  • To deliver an Early Years Educational Programme that enhances the activities, learning and development of the preschooled age children.
  • To create a safe, secure and stimulating environment, with a rich caring approach. 
  • To provide and ensure that planning, preparation, observation, recording, assessment, next steps development and reporting meet their varying learning and social needs.
  • To provide leadership with regard to provision for young children.
  • Maintain a positive ethos and care values of the nursery, both inside and outside the classroom.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To carry out all the duties as laid out for nursery nurse.
  • To ensure that the staff within the room are working correctly and within the company guidelines. 
  • To offer an advisory role to staff, dealing with issues at room level as and when required with feedback to the Nursery Manager.
  • To implement and ensure that the company policies are respected at all times and in the case of contravention of said policies, to advise staff members of the correct practice.
  • To report any breaches of the company policies and any subsequent action that may have been taken.
  • To promote and encourage good working practices amongst the staff providing a safe and happy environment for the children.
  • To promote and ensure the equal opportunities policy is being met at all times.
  • To ensure that the requirements of the Children’s Act 2004 and OFSTED are being met.
  • To ensure high levels of hygiene and cleanliness are being maintained at all times.
  • To assist the Nursery Manager with the efficient upkeep of the building and maintenance/stock of equipment, furnishings and fittings.
  • To assist the Nursery Manager with updating policies and risk assessments.
  • To implement and ensure curriculum planning meets the needs of all children, through differentiation task.
  • To be a able to set clear targets/next steps, based on prior attainment for children’s learning
  • Provide a stimulating environment, where resources can be accessed by children.
  • Keep appropriate and efficient records, integrating formative and summative assessment into weekly and medium and long term planning
  • Maintain a good order and discipline amongst children, in accordance with the nursery’s Good Behaviour policy.
  • Ensure books are rotated weekly
  • Ensure staff in room are carrying out the planning circle correctly
  • Ensure daily activities are carried out during the course of the day
  • Plan for, organise and direct the work of support staff within the nursery.
  • Take part in and contribute to staff meetings.
  • Confidentiality is held at all times.

 Person Specification:

  • To carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post with regard to Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted Standards and current legislation.
  • Have a working knowledge of the Foundation stage curriculum.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development.
  • Ability to work creatively and meet the needs of families.
  • Ability to plan activities to stimulate learning and development.
  •  Ability to work effectively as a member of the nursery team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents and other professionals.
  • Good organisational skills
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • To attend staff and participate in staff meetings, planning, training and development.
  • To act as an ambassador for the organisation, maintaining a positive image of the aims and objectives.
  • To produce a personal training and development plan.
  • To participate in appraisals, 1-2-1’s and reviews.
  • To carry out any other duties that will be seen to enhance the work of the organisation.

Required qualifications
  • Early Years Degree or equivalent
